Thank Crunchie it’s Friday

September 17, 2010

Homemade Crunchie. This must be one of the easiest things to make in the kitchen. Plus it’s exciting too. And a science experiment. You can’t go wrong. (Well, you could if you ate too much of it!)

I found the recipe over at Joanna’s Food blog.

  • 200g caster sugar
  • 4 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 1 level tablespoon bicarbonate of soda (make sure no lumps)
  • 200g Cadburys Dairy Milk

Place sugar and syrup in a heavy bottomed pan. Bring to boil. Take off the heat and sprinkle and stir in the bicarbonate of soda. Watch it froth and foam. Pour into a greased tin. Let harden. Melt the chocolate and pour oven the top. Allow to set.

See, simple.

    Hi,

    Found you via Tally’s blog.

    OMG, home made crunchie!

Hell, I thought I’d cracked it with my flapjack recipe, which turns out exactly like that which one can purchase at supermarkets. Soft and delectable, unlike most flapjacks made at home = brittle or ludicrously tacky. Must post my recipe up sometme, but my present blog is all writerly stuff.

    Nice blog BTW.

Re McNab. Yeah, good easy reading for big boys/girls who liked climbing trees as kids! ;)

Ooh, homemade crunchie with a thicker chocolate coating than Cadbury’s? Yes, please. I’m going to have to try making this. Thanks for sharing!
